Role Objectives:
To work within the process optimisation group, taking full ownership of the established (T5) processes running within production. Acting as a project manager, this will include covering the preparations for start-up of existing processes, issuing of instructions, monitoring process performance, providing process training, and provide technical input, support, and advice to the manufacturing plant.
Where required the senior chemist may be responsible for supervising and directing the work of process optimisation chemists /technicians.
The role will also involve working to deliver improvements to yield, quality and throughput of existing processes, using a range of skills and knowledge, from lab work to statistical analysis of plant data.

Ensure that all Health, Safety and Environmental requirements are met including (but not limited to) workplace organisation, work instructions, risk assessments, and control, COSHH assessments, housekeeping standards.,
Provide chemistry support and supervision for the start-up and ongoing performance of the established processes to ensure quality, yield and minimise lost time in production.
Provide technical support and training to the manufacturing team. This will include hazards, PPE, critical process parameters, sensitive process parameters, cycle times, hold points and trigger points for each process.
Monitor, interpret and report data from the established processes in production within a designated area. This will include the monitoring of critical process parameters, cycle times, OEE, yield and quality.
Demonstrate process routes in the laboratory and conduct experimentation as required to support plant activities such as the qualification of materials, root cause analysis, process improvement and optimisation etc.
Prepare batch documentation or temporary instructions as required to support processing, out of normal operating hours.
Review and complete technical assessments on batch documentation.
Co-ordinate technical support for pre-validation/validation campaigns with staff in other departments as appropriate.
